Bright + small = good! January 18, 2006 Erik Ness (Vancouver, WA, USA) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
If you've seen older LED flashlights you may be skeptical -- and rightly so, but the new Luxeon LEDs are different:
Believe it or not, this little light is almost as bright as a full sized MagLite 3-D cell, and it stays that way for 4 hours. It's like having a big maglite in a mini-mag body.
How is this possible? It uses a 1-watt Luxeon LED driven by a semi-regulated power supply, so unlike a lot of lights that start out bright and end up dim, this little light puts out a nearly constant beam for 4 hours. Best of all, it runs on inexpensive and easily available AA cells.

Great for Railroad Work! March 9, 2006 Robert T. Mccarthy (UPRR, Omaha, NE.) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
As an engineer, this light is GREAT for inspections or just to keep on the control stand! It seems to be a long lasting light source, and easy to carry in your back pocket.
Give this one a try.
Super Bright! February 17, 2009 Libbo 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Don't let the name Jr. fool you; this is a serious little light. If your looking for a good flashlight thats as small as a mini maglite but's as bright as a 3d Maglite than this is it. Don't mess around with expensive lithium batterys and heavy D-cells, Streamlight has perfected this flashlight to work off regular AA cells!
Pros:
-Super Bright (brighter then 3d cell Maglite with new batterys)
-LED never burns out
-4 hour runtime
-Tactical switch
-Runs off common AA cells
-Streamlight "No Excuses" Warrenty
Cons:
-Pocket clip scrapes away aluminum on knurling
-Pocket clip can not slide all the way down towards head, so flashlight can not be worn on hat.
-Threading on tail cap is cheap
-Beam is a bit uneven, but it's not that noticible
Overall, a great light to carry in you pocket, as the Pros far out weigh the Cons. If you like this light, you should check out the Ultrastinger, it's 6 times as bright as the Jr.
Excellent flashlight for money August 27, 2007 dennis (NJ, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Pros:
-Light and bright, visually looks almost as bright as 60 lumens Surefire.
-Runs long time on batteries that are easy to find everywhere
Cons:
-Make sure batteries do not leak, may be difficult to get them out.
Great Flashlight September 7, 2009 P. Jacobs (Minnesota) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great flashlight. I have tried other LED lights to get the longer battery life and savings, but most of those provide diffuse light over a limited area and only for a short distance. This one really projects a bright light for a long distance. I have used it to replace my Maglite 'AA' flashlights for general use.
At around $30 it is pricey for a small flashlight, but I went back and bought a second one for other uses because I liked it so much.
I also like that it uses 'AA' batteries, which are easier to find than the 'AAA' batteries that a lot of the small LED flashlights use. This is important to me for emergency use. Plus, AA batteries last longer and cost the same as AAA.
The only negative comment I have about this flashlight is that the ON/OFF switch at the tail end of the flashlight has gotten bumped a few times while placing it into the supplied, nylon holster, accidentally turning it on; this could lead to unexpectedly running down the batteries if it was not caught in time.
