Powerful light in a small package December 12, 2007 Kam G. (Washington, DC) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Very powerful light from a very small flashlight. I also have the Rayovac headlight which uses the same technology, and it's as bright as a car headlight. The flashlight body is made out of high-grade aluminum with a real nice rugged feel. Great to keep in the car for emergencies. Highly recommended.
nice led flashlight December 12, 2007 Luc (Northern NJ) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I now have a small collection of LED flashlights, ranging from headlights to keylights and now have added this 3 watt unit. I compared this to the tactical light made by Coast which is rated at 2.9 watts using 6 LEDs and the Rayovac using a single LED with a reflector is clearly brighter. The quality of the unit seems to be very good.
Excellent product June 24, 2009 ARealAVFan (Acworth, GA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
No complaints at all with this flashlight. I started researching LED flashlights, as I wanted something small but as powerful as possible. Pretty quickly I saw that "luxeon" bulb type was the way to go, as their output is supposedly far greater than standard LED bulbs. Ultimately I chose this Rayovac, a luxeon 2-AA battery model with touch construction. Turns out to be an excellent choice, and it has exceeded all my expectations. It puts out a very strong focused beam, with a halo to give adequate ambient light around the center beam when using at short distances. It's amazing that an LED bulb can be this powerful. I like that it has a rear push-and-hold button for momentary lighting, while the base twists to provide constant-on power. Very happy with this product, planning to buy another, well worth the price.
Very Solid, Very Bright October 28, 2007 George B. Sears (Cedar City, UT USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This light is not cheap, but it is very bright. This is the new way to make a flashlight, with high output LED's. The lights last a long, long time. You would spend a lot on batteries, to burn one out. Using AA cells is good because they have more capacity and they are cheaper. The price is a somewhat bigger light.
A push on the back turns the light on as long as you hold it. Turn the back and it stays on. There is some beam adjustment. The narrow is quite narrow, and the wide is fairly wide but it gets quite diffused. A somewhat widened beam is nice for walking because you can see out a hundred feet very clearly, and see a fairly wide area.
I give it five stars and hope it lasts forever. These LED's produce heat. Some of the designs do not hold up. But this flashlight is aluminum, so it's a giant heat sink. There are a lot of these flashlights that used fancier batteries. This thing is bright enough, and you can get cheap diposables at Costco or on sale for very little.
There is a 1 watt version, but this light seems to last a long time with light use (pardon the pun). I don't see much reason to get a longer battery life, but you might.
Great flashlight January 21, 2009 Anonymous Shopper (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my husband because he is a flashlight junkie and I personally hated the clumsy, clunky, battery-eating Stanley tripod LED flashlight he had boughten. This one is so much handier and when he needs a flashlight, I've noticed him grabbing this one now instead of the Stanley had had previously been so proud of.
