Around March 2007, the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) announced that they would be switching to the Pelican LED 7060 which is smaller and brighter than Maglites. This is because Pelican LED 7060 can not be used as batons in response to a incident where an police officer was accused of using an excessive force against a suspect by using a Maglite.
